So i'm looking into returning into Gundam models (or gunpla it seems to go by now). I use to build em as a kid but now i want to return and actually build and paint a custom Zaku using a MG 1/100 zaku II 2.0 (still amazed how detailed the models have gotten!) but i ran into a problem. I could only find a small hand full of 1/100 weapons and parts so far but yet i keep finding more and more and more 1/144 accessories, kits, weapons and parts all over the place!

Gundam Weapon Kits

From ebay to hobby link japan and even some chinese websites selling recasts of something called neograde kits made from resin. I'm at a lost here. Why is there so many 1/144 kits and not enough 1/100 size kits? I would think Bandi would try to cover all their bases here. Can anyone point out to me any sites i can visit that got 1/100 weapons?

A lot of misinformation going on here. I live and work here and Japan. There was a huge drop off of MG after the tax increase. MG are still hugely popular. Of course Bandai is milking the Build Fighter series. It just wouldn't be effective from a cost and engineering stand point make the models in MG especially with all the gimmicks and weight. If you are up to it the slack of MG are being picked up by 3rd party companies.

Some require work for proper fitting, yet there are those that are an absolute pleasure to build. Enough goggling will inform you on the specific kits. Unfortunately there's a drought of MG. They are doing a bunch of release of different colors. Hopefully Bandai is waiting for something amazing. Welcome back to the hobby. Aside from the supply/demand standpoint, the 1:100 scale is much harder to make 'general weapons' for.

In 1:144, a couple of cm's here or there doesn't really account for much and all the HG's can pretty much look consistent with whatever weapon. In 1:100, the size discrepancies are magnified 3 fold. The AC MG's are significantly smaller than the UC MG's so much so that they use different style manipulator hand configurations. It's much harder to make weapons that will scale well across the MG line than it is the HG line.
